Recent internal data shows nearly $875 million in land and other rural acreage for sale in the Keystone State. This represents a total of 73,883 acres of Pennsylvania land for sale. Of Pennsylvania's 67 counties, Tioga County had the most land for sale. The most expensive land listed for sale in Pennsylvania on Lands of America recently was $18 million, while the average price of land and other rural acreage for sale in Pennsylvania was $486,711. There were 383 acres of sold land in Pennsylvania recorded in October 2018 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from August 2018. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $5 million. Tioga County had the most land sales recently in the state. Outdoor journal Seneca Creek recently pegged Pennsylvania as one of the country's "Top 3 Fly-fishing States," and it's hard to disagree with this assessment. Species including trout, steelhead, and panfish swim in more than 85,000 miles of streams and rivers, along with 4,000 inland lakes and ponds. The state is home to 480 species of wild birds and wild mammals, many of which can be hunted on almost 1.5 million acres of state game lands. As befits a state with excellent hunting for game including whitetail deer, turkey, bear, grouse, pheasant, ducks, and geese, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Pennsylvania. Fishermen will enjoy casting for species like bass, catfish, trout, walleye, pike, and salmon on land for sale in Pennsylvania. In terms of size, Pennsylvania is the country's 33rd-largest state, covering an area of 46,058 square miles (29 million acres). Of this area, 44,743 square miles (97 percent) is made up of land, while the remaining 1,312 square miles is made up of water.
